Welcome to SweetNSpicyLiving Food & Travel Blog ♥♥♥

Hi There, Welcome to SweetNSpicyLiving. First of all, thank you for stopping by to check out my website and read a little something about me. I’m Marilou some people call me MaryLou I guess that is easier for them to say, either way I don’t mind. I was born in Philippines but decided to move to British Columbia (BC), Canada and make it my second home. I’ve been here few years now, and I love it although Philippines will always have a special place in my heart.
I do a lot of cooking back home but moving to Canada is what opened up the opportunity for me to get into baking. I am obsessed with baking but also love cooking as much as baking, it is really difficult to choose which one I like best. I also love photography and outdoor activities like hiking, biking, running and last but not the least, traveling. I hope to save, save and save so that I can travel and travel around the world. There’s so much to see out there and I cannot wait to explore and wander around.
My blog is an extension of my day to day activity, it is my way of sharing small pieces of my life to other people out there, like you. I am a full time IT employee and although computer world kept me occupied most of the time, I try to find time for my blog, normally during weekends or after work. Blogging has become a huge part of my life now, I cannot imagine not having to do it. It kept me company and it gave me a sense of accomplishment. I fully recognized that there are still a LOT of things that I need to improve in what I do and in how I do things. For now, I am just taking it one step at a time.
My love for food started at an early age as my parents had run a restaurant for many years. I loved watching my mom cook but it never crossed my mind that one day I will be so much into cooking and baking. I was fascinated with the fact that food can look BEAUTIFUL on top of that that it can be TASTY. I dabbled in the business of creating sweets that I prepared and sold with my siblings for a while when I was in the Philippines but no serious efforts were put into exploring the ART of food-making and presentation until I came to Vancouver. I later on discovered that food is my passion in life, preparing food for people around me is what excites me the most and what I look forward to everyday. I love chocolates more than anything else, so a lot of my baking have something to do with chocolate in one way or the other.
About the “Spicy” part in my blog, I also LOVE spicy foods, I put hot sauce and hot spices on almost anything savory that I eat. Just like chocolate makes dessert better, hot spices for me makes savory dishes taste even better. My savory creations all enjoy a level of spiciness that I try to add in subtle ways to give them a “zing” without over-powering the original taste. Sweet and Spicy (sometimes super spicy) is the way I enjoy my food, it’s like a way of living for me. So what better name for my blog than SweetNSpicyLiving
