I always do this every year, go around to admire Cherry Blossom and I never get tired of it. Although the places where I visit ar the same most of the time, they still look new to me ever time I see Cherry Blossoms Tree. So in today’s post, I would like to share with you some of the walks I did to capture the beauty of Cherry Blossom Tree. I hope you’ll enjoy watching the short video as much I enjoyed taking them 🙂

Springtime in Richmond, British Columbia, is nothing short of enchanting. As cherry blossoms bloom across the city, parks and streets transform into vibrant tunnels of pink and white petals. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this seasonal beauty is something you won’t want to miss. Let’s dive into everything you need to know about cherry blossoms in Richmond—from their history to the best places to view them!
Richmond’s Love Affair with Cherry Blossoms
Cherry blossoms have long been a cherished part of Richmond’s spring landscape. Much like its neighbor Vancouver, Richmond has an impressive collection of Japanese cherry trees, planted decades ago as a symbol of friendship and renewal. The city’s dedication to green spaces ensures that cherry blossoms remain an integral part of its natural beauty.

When to Catch the Peak Bloom? Timing Matters!
Cherry blossoms in Richmond typically bloom between late March and mid-April, depending on the weather. This year, the full bloom happened April 5-6 which was also the date for the Cherry Blossom Festival in Garry Point Park in Richmond. Some trees burst into bloom early, while others take their time, extending the season well into April. Want to catch them at their best?
The first two weeks of April tend to showcase Richmond’s blossoms in their fullest glory. I highly recommend go during the peak to see the full bloom. Cherry Blossom flowers do not last long, once you see the leaves coming, thats the start of the flowers falling down.

During the Cherry Blossom Festival, a lot of people do picnic in the aprk. It was such a blessing that the Festval (April 6) turned out to be a really sunny day.
Best Spots to See Cherry Blossoms in Richmond
Unlike Vancouver’s high-profile parks, Richmond’s cherry blossoms are scattered across neighborhoods, creating a more intimate experience. Here are some must-visit locations:
- Minoru Park: A peaceful oasis with cherry trees lining its paths, making it perfect for a mindful stroll. I love this place because it is walking distance to where I live. This area is less crowded and quite but not as much as the one in Garry Point Park.
- Terra Nova Rural Park: Stunning cherry blossoms mixed with open fields and waterfront views.
- Steveston Village: Historic charm meets cherry blossoms—wander the picturesque streets while enjoying the springtime atmosphere. This is my favorite place to see Cherry Blossom in Richmond. The Garry Point Park is where the festival was held year after year.
- Richmond Nature Park: While known for its marshland, the park has several cherry trees that brighten up the walking trails.

There are quite few spots in our neighborhood that is close to where I live. The video below was taken from the Park close to Minoru Park. Steveston Village n Garry Point Park is the best place so far. This is also where they do the Cherry Blossom Festival. This place gets packed with people during the festival. If you want to catch a photo with less people, you have to come early, that or you can photoshop your pictures 😉

Cherry Blossoms & Cultural Celebrations
Cherry blossoms are deeply rooted in Japanese culture, symbolizing the fleeting nature of life and beauty. Richmond, home to a rich Asian community, embraces these cultural ties through springtime events, such as:
- Hanami (Flower Viewing) Gatherings: Locals often set up picnics beneath cherry trees, just like in Japan!
- Sakura-Themed Art Exhibits: Local galleries sometimes showcase cherry blossom-inspired works during the season.
- Japanese Tea Ceremonies: A mindful way to appreciate the beauty of cherry blossoms with a warm cup of matcha.
Tips for Capturing Cherry Blossom Photos
If you want to photograph Richmond’s cherry blossoms like a pro, here are some quick tips:
- Golden hour is key: Shoot early in the morning or late in the afternoon for soft, warm lighting.
- Play with angles: Get low and photograph blossoms against a bright blue sky for a magical look.
- Use a wide aperture: This will blur the background, making the cherry blossoms stand out in dreamy focus.

Cherry Blossom Treate and Local Delights
Spring in Richmond isn’t just about the blooms—it’s also a feast for food lovers! Look out for sakura-flavored desserts, including:
- Cherry blossom mochi at Japanese bakeries
- Sakura lattes at specialty coffee shops. There are several cafes participating in the Cherry Blossom Festival where they offer limited time Cherry Blossom theme drinks and baked goods.
- Blossom-inspired cocktails in trendy restaurants Many local spots craft special seasonal treats, making springtime in Richmond a delicious experience.

Cherry Blossom T& Mindfullness: The Art of Slowing Down
One of the best things about cherry blossoms? They remind us to slow down and savor the moment. Their fleeting beauty teaches us that life’s most precious moments are temporary—so take a walk, breathe in the fresh air, and appreciate the delicate beauty surrounding you. Richmond’s cherry blossoms aren’t just stunning; they’re a gentle reminder to embrace the present. I wish that they could last longer but Cherry Blossom flowers are short lived.

Make the Most of Cherry Blossom
Cherry blossom season is short but spectacular, so don’t miss out! Whether you’re exploring Richmond’s parks, strolling through Steveston, or enjoying sakura-flavored delicacies, springtime is one of the best times to experience this city’s charm. Grab a camera, bring a friend, and soak in the magic of cherry blossoms before they’re gone!

That’s about it! Until next year .. Byeee 🙂
