One of the thing or activity I like to do aside from baking and cooking is travelling, something that I only realized when I moved here in Canada. Being able to travel is a luxury and a gift, not everyone is blessed with the financial or physical ability to travel. Years ago before I moved in Canada, all I did was work like there`s no more tomorrow. At that time, I knew I was doing it because I want to not because I was forced to. I would rather work than go anywhere else. I worked 7 days a week and almost up to 10:00PM eveyrday. It sounds toxic, becuase it was but then again, it was my choice.

Moving here in Canada drastically changed my life, it was like starting from scratch on my own. It opened a lot of doors for me, something that I did not even think possible back then. Baking is one of them, believe it or not I never did any baking before I moved here. I cooked a lot almost everyday but not baking.

Travellling is another door that opened to me. I`ve been to places that I id not even imagine in my wildest dream I would be abel to visit. I was blessed and thankful for that. Every oppurtinity to travel is blessing to me, and something that I made sure I made the most of the time. I woke up early on my vacation days and roam around making the most of evey minute. It was a lot of fun but it was exhausting too. Moving from one place to another, jumping from one attraction to another, everything was planned and timed. Looking back, I do not have much recollection of actually being lazy on my vacation trips, or just chilling in a cafe without rushing to leave to go to another place. Everything I did was plan and had to be one time.

When I looked back on my 3 weeks vacation in Europe and 3 weeks in Spain, although there were plenty of beautiful memories, what often standout was that they were tiring and that I wished I took my time. Well, it was one of my lessons learned I hope to remind myself for my future travels.

My firsl solo trip that I did after pandemic was my Chicago trip, 2023. When I was planning it, I told myself this time around when I travel, I will not try to pack my itenerary and I will give myself time to relax, not rush and just be in the moment. It was the best decision I had ever made when it comes to travelling.

I still woke up early because I am an early morning person but I made use of my morning time doing what I love… running. I woke up 6:00AM to go out for a run before I start my day visiting attractions. I was looking for a great place to go for a run in Chicago and I saw a video about the Lake Front Trail.

The Lakefront Trail in Chicago is an 18-mile paved path that runs along the picturesque Lake Michigan shoreline, offering breathtaking views and a serene environment for outdoor activities. It’s a popular spot for activities like running, walking, biking, and rollerblading. The trail provides a peaceful ambiance, especially in the early morning hours, making it an ideal setting to enjoy the sunrise. If you’re a fan of stunning sunrises and sunsets, the Lakefront Trail offers the perfect backdrop for these magnificent natural displays. The trail’s proximity to Lake Michigan provides a refreshing and revitalizing experience for both locals and visitors alike.

Sunrise ..
What I love about running early in the morning is the peaceful and quite environment. I like how there are not a lot of people in the trail and best of all, I love watching sunrise as I do my morning run. Sunrise and sunset are my favorite time of the day.
The good thing about running in the morning is that I have plenty of time so I did not rush at all. I was able to complete the run and was done around 8:00AM. I took my time, walked when I got tired and stopped and sat to admire the view. The end of the trail was close to the Museum Campus. The photo here below is the end of the trail.

One thing I have to say is that be careful where you run. Avoid running close to the edge as the edge tends to be slippery. Pay close attention as sometimes it is not that obvious as the surface looks rough but it is actually slippery.

I took a panorama photo here, I was standing at the middle so I can capture both the right and left side of the trail. The right side is the trail side.
I`ve done a lot of walking and visiting attractions but being able to run early in the morning is one of my favorite activity. It was realxing, something that I had never done in my previous trips. This is something that I would like to do in my succeeding trips given the chance. I felt like I was really on vacation, relax and just chilling ans that is how vacation is supposed to be. A time to be away from my busy daily life.
That`s it for now. Until my next adventure. Bye now 🙂
