Laduree opened their first branch in Vancouver March of 2016. I was so excited when I heard about it. I had tried their Macaroons when I went to Paris in 2014 and I loved it! The store is located in downtown Robson, along with other specialty shops and boutiques.
It’s not as big and elegant as their branch in Paris, but it is also beautifully designed and decorated, with nice and well lighted interior.
It has separate dining area for people who want to sit and have some tea and Macaroons. They also offer few assortment of chocolates and pastries. They also carry souvenir items like key chain, scented candles , perfume etc.
The line up was insane in the first few weeks,it extends outside the door. People are just going crazy over Laduree Macaroons.
Laduree Paris
We finally decided to stopped by after 1 1/2 months that they opened. The line up is just inside, it moves fast, so it’s not that bad of a wait.In our visit, I learned something very interesting. Their Macaroons are shipped from France! They are not baked here. I was really surprised when I heard that, I guess, it is because they just started. It shouldn’t be a problem, as Macaroons gets better when they are aged, normally 2-3 days. It is when Macaroons are aged that the cookie absorbs the filling creating a better texture and flavour. This is what makes it taste even better , than eating it the same day it was made.
