Watermelon Drink was one of the drink that I discovered recently and I cannot stop making it. I love the idea that it is only 1 ingredient drink and that I do not have to add any sweetener to it. Watermelon when in season is naturally sweet, and I personally like the subtle sweetness of it. It is sweet but not sugary sweet which makes me feel great drinking a lot of it. This is not saying that it is not high in

About This Recipe

  • Ease in Making the Recipe: I cannot stress how easy it is to make this drink. With only 1 ingredient, I cannot think of a way to make this complicated. All you need is a ripe sweet watermelon and a blender. Serve it refrigerator cold or ice cold, I will personally recommend the later.
  • Ingredients: Watermelon, sweet and ripe watermelon, just that. Using a sweet and ripe watermelon is key to making this drink. This eliminates the need to add a sweetener, thus making it just 1 ingredient.
  • Texture, Taste & Flavor: It is naturally sweet, just like eating a slice of watermelon but just better. Better because it quench your thirst so well. Watermelon when in season is naturally sweet, you don’t need to add any sweetener to make it taste good. I like using the entire skinned watermelon (skin removed of course). I do not strain the blended juice to remove the pulp but if you prefer a really smooth drink, feel free to strain it. I’ve made this several times and I really do not see the need to do any straining, it is good as it is.
  • Make-Ahead: Yes, you can make this 1-2 days ahead. Keep it covered and refrigerated. You can also freeze half of them in an ice cube tray. One the day that you are serving it, pour the remaining blender watermelon juice and the frozen watermelon cubes. Blend until smooth. You can serve it as is without the ice as the frozen watermelon will make the texture icy, almost like a slushie but more liquidy. I have a separate video post on how to make Watermelon and Lychee Slushie if you are looking for a thicker consistency and more complex flavor.

2 Ingredients Slushie Variation: Watermelon & Lychee Slushie

If feel like something colder and icy, I have one for you. I made this 2 years ago and I had been making this also every Summer. This variation is a slushie variation, with Lychee flavoring. It is refreshing, cold and the Lychee flavor is just amazing. Give it a try, check the recipe HERE

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs (or more) Sweet Ripe Watermelon
  • Ice Cube – for serving

Instructions

Cut the watermelon into small cubes. Since we are not adding any water, cutting this in small cubes makes the pieces to come in contact with the blade better. Blend until smooth and liquid. At this stage, you can already serve this as is. Transfer in a glass with ice cubes. That quick!

Alternatively, if you prefer a smother drink, strain the juice to remove extra pulp. I have done this several times already and I really do not find the need to do straining but then again this is a personal preference.
