Vacation mode morning run

A wonderful sunny day at last! I at once got up from my bed without hesitation when I saw the sun shining in my bedroom window. I had been praying for a day like this and I finally got one.

Point Pleasant Park morning run

To start my day, I got my runners clothes on and headed to Point Pleasant Park for a nice morning run. Point Pleasant Park is about 44 minutes walk from my place but I got there earlier than expected because I was running. It was a quiet sunny day and since it was an early morning, there’s not a lot of people there. It was a bit foggy when I got there but it was nice as it was cool to walk and run in the park.

It was a huge park, with quite a lot of small paths. I swear I would end up getting lost on there if not because of google maps, I am a lost person anywhere I go.

The park have some marked historic sites, I stopped by few of them as I do not have a lot of time to explore the entire park.

Running makes me hungry

After the park, I head back to Harbour Front to grab a bite, it was past 10:00AM already and although I eat breakfast late (like noon), I made an exception for today, running makes me hungry. I had been running and walking for 2 hours and it can use a bite to eat.

I stopped by at Pane e Circo Salumeria. I had visited their Queens branch which was a lot bigger and cozier but jt will be few more minutes from here and I was really hungry and tired. I got the Pastrami Sandwich that I had been eyeing since I visited this cafe. It was a good sandwich I have to say. The bread has a nice chew, the Pastrami was not too salty, and the cheese was melting and oozing out of the bread. I had it to go and ate at the waterfront from instead then I head home to rest and prepare for mg next itinerary for the day.

Quite time at Public Garden

At noon, I left the apartment to go the Public Garden which was close to my place, about 15 minutes walk. I stopped by at Dairy Bar to have some sundae. I got curious about this place when I passed by it the first day I got here in Halifax. There was a line up, must be good I thought. I got the Kiddo Oreo Sundae as they only have 2 flavors for kids size. I am not a fan of Oreo but I prefer this one than the lemon sundae. It was a good sundae, not too sweet. The sundae was 6.50CAD.

Now to the Public Gardens. This garden is in the heart of Halifax downtown, and it’s free. No entrance fee! I finished my sundae there and then I strolled for an 1 hour to take videos and photos.

It was a nice garden, not that big but it was a nice place to relax. They have a lot of seating areas under the trees. It was Spring but not quite Summer yet so the Summer flowers are not out yet and the Slring flowers are almost fading. Nonetheless, the garden was beautiful and relaxing to walk around. The greenery was very lush which makes up for the lack of flowers. It was a nice walk and I wouldn’t mind going back again.

Seafood dinner @Salty’s Restaurant

To end the day, I head to Salty’s restaurant to have dinner. I had been postponing this dinner for awhile waiting for a nice weather and today is the day. Salty’s is a waterfront restaurant with patio seating. I was seated at the patio by the water and it was nice.

I ordered Seafood platter for 36CAD which consisted of half chilled lobster, battered fish, 3 shrimps and 3 scallops, potato salad and coleslaw. It was good serving portion for the price and it tastes good. What a nice way to end the beautiful day.

It was only one day, but definitely a full packed one day. I’m ready for my next adventure. That’s it for today and until next time. Byeee!!

What I cook when on vacation

It sounds unconventional, but really love making meals from time to time. Although trying new cuisine and food is really nice, I still miss home cooking. Luckily, the airbnb I stayed at is fully furnished and the kitchen was well equipped with what I need to cook simple easy meals. Since Halifax has quite an abundance of seafood, I cooked mostly Salmon and Cod dishes, with one day of cooking a steak for a change. It was great and I would definitely do this again given the chance.
