Welcome to Richmond Country Farm Pumpkin Patch

It’s definitely undeniably Fall. The Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is normally my cue to Fall, then after that the pouring of pumpkin flavored desserts. Pumpkin Bread, Muffins, Pancakes, Smoothie and not to mention the Apple treats, Apple Oatmeal and Apple Cinnamon Rolls just to mention few. And, you know this “and” is coming, right? and then there’s Pumpkin Patch! Pumpkins almost anywhere you look around, so many beautiful pumpkin. So today, I am going to share with you my Pumpkin Patch visit to Richmond Farm.

Where is it located?
The Pumpkin Patch is located in Richmond Country Farms in Steveston Highway. The actual even is happening at the back of the Richmond Country Farm Market. The venue is accessible by Bus and there are parking place for private vehicles too.

How to buy ticket for Pumpkin Patch
You can buy the ticket online or onsite. Depending on when you go, there could be a line up. When I went there it was Thanksgiving Lon weekend and I was surprised how long the lineup for the ticket. The good news is that it moved really fast, so not a problem at all.

What is there to see and do?

Aside from visiting the Pumpkin Patch which is the highlight of the visit, there is also the corn maze where you can pick corn to bring home with you. This I did not know until I saw people doing it, so either it was not part of the ticket or it was but they just did not specify it
There’s also a train ride inside the farm, this is an extra cost of 4 CAD per person. The train ride is very short, about 10 minutes. You can get the ticket inside as this is extra.

There also a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch, this one is included in the ticket.

Relax and Enjoy a Meal – there were few food trucks where you can buy food and drink.

Live Entertainment – Listen to the live music entertainment while you enjoy your meal

Hay Playground For Kids – if you have kids with you, there’s a Hay tent where kids can run and play

Enter the Corn Maze

Checkout the farm animals

Want some more fresh produce? Go check their market before leaving the site

Last but not the least, don’t forget to get your free Apple, but don’t be greedy and only one per person.

How long do you need to allocate for the visit?
I would say allocate at least half day especially if you have kids with you or even if juts yourself. I took a lot of photos and videos and ate something so I stayed longer.
How to get there?
There are a lot of parking space, you can drive and park close to the venue. There are also buses that stops in front of the Richmond Country Farm. Buses 403, 404, 405 and 408 goes to that area.

Highlights of the Visit
The Pumpkin Patch of course is the highlight of the visit but the wagon ride with live entertainment is another highlight of the visit. The wagon ride was only about 5 – 10 minutes but it was quite nice with the live entertainment onboard. The train ride is a fun activity too, an additional 4 CAD per person and is a real treat to kids and adult a like. Selecting the free pumpkin was fun too.
What is the best time to visit?
I find that going in the morning when it opens (9:00 or 10:00) is the best time to start the visit. The place is not as busy, plus if the weather is good morning is not as hot. Weekends are also a LOT busier than weekday, so if you have a chance to do it during weekday, that would even be better plus the ticket is cheaper during weekday,

Tips in Visiting
- Check the weather as it is a totally open area. Since it is Fall, even during sunny days it is quite chilly. Bring head covering, and layer properly to keep yourself warm
- Wear proper shoe – the field is quiet muddy and so when I say prosper show it is advisable to wear waterproof footwear, if you don’t have one at least don’t wear something fancy. Boots are good option, just avoid white snickers or you will definitely regret it.
- Bring Extra heavy Duty Bags – the entrance fee includes a free pumpkin per person, and it doesn’t matter what size you pick. You can get the biggest one you can find, as long as you can a carry it. They do just 1 plastic bag per person to arty the pumpkin, but it’s always convenient to have extra heavy duty bag

The Pumpkin Patch No No List
- One Pumpkin ONLY per admission
- No Smoking or Vaping
- No Spitting
- No Cursing
- No Chasing, Feeding or Touching Animals
- No Unattended Children
- No Pets
- No Outside Food on Weekends
- No Climbing Fences
- No Throwing Rocks, Sticks or Other Stuff

- No Outside Booze

What is included in the ticket?
The ticket includes the short (very short) wagon ride to the Pumpkin Patch area. You get to choose one pumpkin to go any size that you like. Although not mentioned, I saw some people picking corn as well in the corn maze, I assume it is also free (or maybe not?). Then there’s free Apple, juts one per person although I saw most people taking two. There’s nobody checking on how many Pumpkins or Apples people are taking, it is just a system based on trust. So don’t break the trust ok, and get only what is allowed 🙂

Is it worth the visit?
I personally enjoyed the visit, but I think this is going to be even more fun as a family activity. It is totally a kid friendly activity, but something that adult wok enjoy too.
