One thing I love about living in British Columbia, Canada is the better weather compared to other provinces. When I say better, that’s in terms of amount of snow and accessibility of places to visit from tourist attractions to day to day necessities.

I have to clarify that because although we get less snow here, the downside is we got more rainy days during Fall season. Not a big deal at all, as most of those are not heavy rain that cause flooding. I guess it’s just a matter of getting used to it. Coming from Philippines where when it rains, it pours, the rain we are getting here is nothing at all.

But today is not about rain, it’s about good sunny days, fun under the sun, delicious food and good company.
This is a bit of a late post already but I thought still worth posting. My travelling buddy visited us here in BC last May 2023. She only stayed for the long weekend and so every day counts. She used to live here before she moved to Alberta and so she’s not totally new to this place. With very few days only to spend here, we decided to to a day trip at Squamish and Whistler area which was what she requested. It was a fun catch-up time for all of us, let me show you what we did.
Hiking at Alice Lake Provincial Park
Our main itinerary for the day is to do simple easy hike in Squamish area, followed by a meal and stroll a bit in Whistler Village.
Always good to start early
From Vancouver, we left around 8:00am and drove to Squamish which is more than 1 hour away. It is always good to leave early when going to this area as it gets really busy during Summer season. There are tourist buses that goes to Whistler, but driving is the best option if you can do that. This will give you ample time to stop at look out point and not rush to go back.

There are a lot of hiking trails in Squamish and Whistler area, as always, do your research before you go. We were hoping for an easy relax and so we went to Alice Provincial Lake Park to find easy trails for the day. If you have more time, a Sea to Sky Hike is also a great activiy to do but be warn that this is not an easy hike to do. You can also skip the hiking and just take the Gondola to go to the top.

There are few short trails inside this area, a mix of easy and moderate difficulty level. Choose whatever suits your physical condition. There are some areas that are a bit uphill but nothing too scary to worry about. We did few short trails, the likes of Four Lakes, Stump Lake Loop, Alice Lake Loop. I love that the hiking trails are inside and almost covered with the tall trees. This makes the hike enjoyable specially on a hot day.

Time to Eat!
After the hike, we head to Whistler which is about 3 0 – 40 minutes away from Squamish, a perfect destination to enjoy the rest of the day.
Whistler is actually a more popular tourist attraction during Summer and Winter. From dining, hiking, food, and lively night activity, this place have it all. A good day trip or long weekend destination for locals and tourist alike.
Lunch at Authentic French Creperie — Crepe Montagne
There are different options for dining, we decided to go Crepe Montagne which specializes in Crepes (you probably could tell already from the name).
They serve both sweet and savory crepe. We all decided to go for savory crepe and to reserve dessert somewhere else.

Ice Cream fro Dessert

For the dessert, we went for ice cream. Cows is a popular ice cream place in Whistler. There are other ice cream place sin Whistler Village but this one is what we often go to if we want ice cream.

We stayed for couple of hrs in Whistler Village area and then we started just spending the rest of the day driving and walking around Whistler. This is a more relax type of vacation in a sense that we took out time eating, walking and eating again, lol. Short trips and vacations are always better with food involved.

Lately, that’s the kind of vacation that I prefer. Relax, no rush short trips. I feel that I get to enjoy the place more and the company that I am with. I do not get to see my friends a lot, so every moment counts.

We left Whistler around 5PM and had dinner in Tap & barrel at Londale Quay. What a day! It was a lot of fun. Until my next travel adventure. Byeee !
