[VIDEO] Creamy Peach Milk Drink

We’re making another easy milk drink today. Something more Summer like, a Creamy Peach Milk Drink. It’s officially Summer, finally. This means abundance of fresh Summer fruits, warm weather, outdoor activists and longer day light. Everything we hope could last longer. While Summer is only 3-4 months here in Vancouver, I am determined to make everyday count.

3 Ingredients Peach Milk Drink

This Milk Drink uses only 3 ingredients, Peach, sugar and milk. This is very easy to make.

  • Peach – If Peach is in season, use fresh but if not, use canned Peaches. You can use frozen but he texture will be like of a smoothie.
  • Sweetener – I used sugar syrup which is basically just water + sugar. I used the 1:2 ratio (like 1 cup sugar: 1/2 cup water) but if you want a less sweeter syrup, you can make it 1:1. I also added small amount of peach syrup but this is not enough to give the sweetness, more of additional flavor than swetness. I highly recommend adding extra sweetnere of your choice for better taste.
  • Milk -you can use any type of milk you prefer. I used full fat milk, but other type of non-dairy milk will work too.

How to Make Simple Syrup

Simple syrup is simply dissolved and lightly reduced sugar + water. The basic ratio is 1:1, meaning 1 part sugar to 1 part water (i.e 1 cup sugar: 1 cup water), it is basically an equal portion of sugar and water.

However, if you like it thick and sweeter, you can do a 1:2 ratio (i.e 1/2 cup water : 1 cup sugar). The yield will be less, but it is thicker and sweeter which use you use less of it.

You can make sugar syrup using granulated white sugar for a clear syrup OR light or dark brown sugar for a darker syrup. The darker syrup are great for coffee or dark tea based drinks as this will not affect the color of the drink that much.

The clear syrup are best for drinks that you want to retain the original color without making it brownish in color. The clear white syrup tends to be sweeter than the brown sugar, but brown sugar have that light caramel flavor from the molasses in the brown sugar. In the end, it all boils down to preference.

How to Make Peach Milk Drink

In my version, I simply use a blender to purée the Peach with the milk and sweetener. I wanted a smooth creamy milk drink and blending it makes sense. Also, Peach have a very milk flavor, so blending it will highlight the taste more. I added few chunks for texture but you can blend all if you want a fully smooth milk drink without any chunks.

Peach Milk Drink

Because I see canned Peach, I had access to the Peach syrup. This add a bit of flavor more than sweetness, this is not enough to sweeten the drink. I recommend a plain and neutral sweetener. I used a simple sugar syrup so that it mix easily. You can also use granulated sugar. Add it when you blend the mixture so that it dissolves better.

Last but not the least, serve it with lots of ice cubes. I always serve my milk drink with ice cube and for me this is non negotiable. Ice cubes makes the milk drink taste better, maybe it’s just me but give it a try and let me know.

Ingredients:

  • 150g sliced Peaches (Divided: 110g for blending, 40g for chopping)
  • 1 cup Milk of your choice
  • 1/4 cup Peach Syrup – only if you are using canned. If using fresh, just add more sweetner.
  • Sweeter of your choice (I used sugar syrup)

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, blend milk with peach, syrup and extra sweetner.
    • Alternatively, you can add the extra sweetener when you serve the drink.
  2. In a serving glass, add ice cube. At this stage, you can add extra sweetner if you haven’t added any, highly recommended. Pour the peach milk drink. Taste for sweetness and adjust as needed.

Note: If you are using fresh Peach and you do not have the peach syrup that you get when you use bottled Peach, add extra sweetner instead.
