Hello Matcha Lovers! Today I am sharing with you my Toasted Matcha Drink. This is a hot drink but if you feel like an ice cold drink, go ahead and add some ice and enjoy! This drink is very easy to make at home so you can enjoy it anytime that you want to. This is a very simple process, with an added step to add toasted Matcha tea for a deeper matcha flavor. You can make this hot or cold, the choice is yours.
About This Recipe
- Ease in Making the Recipe: This is an easy matcha drink that you can make at home, anytime of the year. I added a bit of a twist in how I made this. I used a combination of loose leaf matcha and powdered matcha to create an intense matcha flavour. The loose leaf matcha was toasted on the pan until fragrant before adding the milk. This create a stronger full bodied matcha flavor. The other half of the matcha, I made by using a frother to mix the milk and the matcha powder before mixing it with the toasted matcha.
- Ingredients: I used 2 types of matcha for this drink. The first one is a loose leaf matcha that used for toasting. Th next one is a powdered matcha that I used to dissolved and froth.
- Texture, Taste & Flavor: Creamy with a heavenly nice matcha flavor.
- Make-Ahead: Yes you can make this ahead of time and keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Reheat in the microwave or use it to make an ice cold matcha drink. Add some tapioca pearls to make it into a bubble tea.

Substitution
- Loose Leaf Tea – You can substitute a tea bag instead. Cut the tea bag open and toast it. Make sure to use low heat as tea bag tea have a more finer granolas that could easily get burnt.
- Sweetener – I used granulated white sugar but any sweetener of your choice will work. Adjust the amount to your preference.

Sugar or No Sugar
It is up to you. I added 1 tablespoon granulated sugar as I do not like my drink too sweet, but I don’t want it to be bland as well. Work on what you like, after all this is your drink to enjoy.

Enjoy this Toasted Matcha Drink at the comfort of your own home. A touch of marshmallow won’t hurt, so go get them and add as mush as you like.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup Full Fat Milk
- 3/4 teaspoon instant Coffee Powder
- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar ( or any other desired seasoning)
- 50 grams chopped Dark Chocolate
- 1/4 cup Half & Half
- pinch of Salt
Instructions:
- Bring the milk into a simmer. Do not boil in high heat as this can scald the milk. Add instant coffee powder, sweetener, pinch of salt and chopped dark chocolate.
- Alternatively, if you have left over brewed coffee, you can use that and simply add milk. You may need to adjust how much milk you add depending on how strong the brewed coffee.
- Simmer until the chocolate has melted. For a smoother consistency, transfer in a blender and blend. This will also create a nice foam on top.
- Alternatively, you can use electric foam stick.
- Whip the half and half cream while the drink simmer.
- Pour the drink in a glass and pour the half and half foam.
- Dust with cocoa powder (optional)
