Just landed! Now what? Today I am going to show you how to get to Halifax Downtown from Stanfield International Airport. I will list the options I found in my research and the option I took to get to Halifax Downtown. I will also share with you a short video of my arrival to Halifax, picking up the luggage and getting the transportation to Downtown.

For most travellers, going to their hotel from downtown is not that big of an issue, but for me it is. I do not drive so whenever I travel, I research the most budget friendly and comfortable and safe option for me to get to my destination. Often times if my hotel is easy to find, I do not mind taking a public transportation (like a bus or a shuttle). For cases that my hotel is difficult to find or if I am arriving too early or late, I prefer taking a taxi or an Uber.
Based on my research, public transportation it the most budget friendly option to get to downtown. However, the arrival/departure time of the bus does not work with my arrival time so I had to rule this out.

Taxi was the next one that I considered since my AirBnb is about 19 minutes away from Downtown Halifax, that will be quite a walk. Most of the time, this is what I prefer when I travel from and to airport but based on my research, quite a lot of travellers have an unpleasant experience taking a taxi from and to airport. A lot of complain have something to do with taxi drivers not accepting card payment and they ended up stopping at an ATM to withdraw cash. I am pretty sure there are also travellers who have good experience when taking taxi, but being a solo traveller, my priority is safety first.

Uber was the one that a ,ot of travellers recommend in Halifax, and this is what I decided to take. I did some research and I was really impressed on how Uber have improved from when it first started. The Uber App has more functionality now that is geared towards making travellers feel more safe. Of course not everyone will have positive experience, there will always be some people who will end up with bad experience but that is just how it is for most things in life.

Public Transportation
The Regional Express 320 bus service is $4.25 (exact change required) one way.
The bus will pick visitors up at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport and has 3 drop off and pick up locations: Fall River, Downtown Dartmouth and Downtown Halifax.
Maritime Bus
Maritime Bus service offers daily transportation to and from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Rate depends on the drop-off location. Book online, in-person, or by phone.

Car Rental
Car rentals are available at the Halifax Stanfield airport and are conveniently located in the Lower Level of the Airport Parkade.
Rental companies available include Alamo/National, Avis, Budget, Dollar/Thrifty, Enterprise and Hertz.
Taxi
Taxis and limos are available on site. For a fixed rate, we recommend the grab-and-go option by asking for a taxi from the Ground Transportation booth in arrivals. Rates will depend on the drop-off location starting at $64 for downtown Halifax (most taxi companies take credit, debit, and cash).
Uber
I took an Uber from the airport to my rental apartment in downtown Halifax. The trip was about 20 – 25 minutes and it costed me 58.00 CAD. I was lucky yo have a very nice Uber driver. He was a young gentlemen who just moved to Halifax last Dec 2023. We had a good chat on the way to my destination. It was a very pleasant safe trip. It was definitely the right decision for me.
That’s about it for this post. I hope you find this helpful If you’ve been to Halifax before, leave me a comment and share the places that you’ve visited,. Until my next adventure, Byeeee!
What I cook when on vacation
It might sound unconventional, but really love making meals from time to time. Although trying new cuisine and food is really nice, I still miss home cooking. Luckily, the airbnb I stayed at is fully furnished and the kitchen was well equipped with what I need to cook simple easy meals. Since Halifax has quite an abundance of seafood, I cooked mostly Salmon and Cod dishes, with one day of cooking a steak for a change. It was great and I would definitely do this again given the chance.
