Place to stay when on vacation is one of the biggest cost of all my trips. Traveling solo made me more cautious on looking for places to stay. There’s a lot to consider, but on the top of my list is always safety first. The location must be safe and easy to get around to places I want to go. I often book hotels on my travel, but in my trip to Halifax, booking airbnb was the more reasonable and budget friendly option since I was staying longer.
It took a lot. of research to find the right place for me, but I found it. In this post, I am sharing with you the place where I stayed while I was in Halifax. I could not be happier with this place. The location was perfect, the apartment was great and the host was very responsive. Let’s have a look.

The Building
This is the building lobby in the ground floor. It was. nice, almost like being in a hotel.

Living Room
The living room is my most favourite part of this apartment. I fell in love with the large glass wall to wall window overlooking the beautiful view . This is one of the reason why I decided to book this rental apartment.

Homecook Meals

This is where I ate my meals when I cook, and where I rest after a long day of walking. It was perfect, comfortable , it was worth booking this place.
Sunset

The sunset view in the evening was stunning! It cannot get any better than this. Having my dinner while watching this sunset was such a pleasure. I love every minute of it. After dinner, I had my tea and dessert and sat at the corner chair, simple pleasures.
Reading Nook
I call this the reading nook as this is where I usually sat when reading something or just scrolling on my phone. Also a perfect spot to have a cup of tea and a dessert on hand.

Halifax has a very unpredictable weather. In just few minutes the weather could change from being sunny to overcasts and windy to full blown heavy rain. I wished I had more sunny days when I was there so that I can enjoy more sunset but unfortunately, I had only 4 days and most of the days I was out. But nonetheless, I was thankful for the good days .. and even rainy days. This place made me feel cozy and comfortable doing nothing and just staring out this window.

Kitchen
I had a full kitchen complete with induction stove, oven, microwave, electric pot and coffee maker. The host was very kind enough to leave banana, apple, butter, milk, egg, bread and bottled water as a starter. It was very helpful especially arriving jet lag from a red eye flight. Thank You Nikolas for the hospitality.

Bedroom
The bedroom was spacious and clean, just like any room in the house. This building is a very old building but the host made sure that the place is clean and comfortable. I can tell that this place had been renovated and painted.

Bathroom/Washroom
The washroom was spacious too, and clean. It has full supply of toiletries from shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, tissue, towels and cleaning supplies if needed.

This was my first time booking airBnb travelling alone. The first 3 nights were an adjustment for me. The silence feels eerie and it did not helped that the weather was really bad and I can hear the howling of the wind at night.
I bought some travel security gadgets with me that I found in Amazon. One is the door wedge alarm which is basically a battery operated wedge that you insert at the bottom opening of the door and it will sound an alarm once someone forces to open the door. The other one that I bought was a door knob protection which basically also block the knob from being opened.
In fairness, the apartment itself and the location was safe and even without any of these everything was ok. It does make me feel more comfortable so I was still happy I bought them. After few days I felt comfortable and kind of at home. In fact, even while I was still there, I already knew that I will miss the place especially the view from the living room and the cozy reading nook.

What I cook when on vacation:
It might sound unconventional, but really love making meals from time to time. Although trying new cuisine and food is really nice, I still miss home cooking. Luckily, the airbnb I stayed at is fully furnished and the kitchen was well equipped with what I need to cook simple easy meals. Since Halifax has quite an abundance of seafood, I cooked mostly Salmon and Cod dishes, with one day of cooking a steak for a change. It was great and I would definitely do this again given the chance.
