The heat continuous and so is our Friday Drink Day series. Today I am sharing with you something exciting, beautiful and refreshing. We’re going to make this easy refreshing Very Berry Hibiscus 🌺 Iced Tea. Vibrantly red, fruity, citrusy and fresh.
It just gets better and better every week. In case you missed the previous Friday Drink Day posts, I had the links at the featured section of this post, just down below.
What’s my inspiration for this drink? I guess the vibrant Hibiscus 🌺 Tea that I found in the store. A friend of my told me about this tea a long time ago and since then I cannot forget about it. I guess it’s the vibrant red color that struck me the most. Compared to my usual green tea, which is almost color less, this Hibiscus tea is far appealing and perfect for a Summer ice cold tea. I’ve added freshly Lemon and Mint to brighten it up even more. Plenty of freshness from only fresh ingredients.
I also did something exciting about the way I presented this tea. I’ve added a touch of honey on the rim of the glass and dipped it in sugar. The effect was a crystallized rim which taste so delicious when you drink the tea. Cannot stop going around the rim to get the honey sugar while I drunk the tea. Try it!

How To Make Simple Sugar Syrup
Simple syrup is simply dissolved and lightly reduced sugar + water. The basic ratio is 1:1, meaning 1 part sugar to 1 part water (i.e 1 cup sugar: 1 cup water), it is basically an equal portion of sugar and water.
However, if you like it thick and sweeter, you can do a 1:2 ratio (i.e 1/2 cup water : 1 cup sugar). The yield will be less, but it is thicker and sweeter which use you use less of it.
You can make sugar syrup using granulated white sugar for a clear syrup OR light or dark brown sugar for a darker syrup. The darker syrup are great for coffee or dark tea based drinks as this will not affect the color of the drink that much.
The clear syrup are best for drinks that you want to retain the original color without making it brownish in color. The clear white syrup tends to be sweeter than the brown sugar, but brown sugar have that light caramel flavor from the molasses in the brown sugar. In the end, it all boils down to preference.
Ingredients for Very Berry Hibiscus 🌺 Iced Tea
- Lemon 🍋 – This brightens up the flavor of the tea, fresh Lemon gives a nice tart flavor
- Fresh Mint Leaves – If freshness is what we want, fresh Mint never disappoints. This cannot be substituted with dried Mint as you will both not get the same freshness of taste.
- Sugar Syrup – As always, use liquid sweetener regardless if you make one or use store-bought. Iced cold drinks are better sweetened with liquid sweetener as it dissolves easily.
- Orange or Lemon Juice
- Either one works but Lemon gives a better city’s tart flavor. If you want an even stronger one, try Lime.
- Frozen mix Berries
- What could be better that mix Berries, you don’t have to choose juts 1. You can enjoy a mix of Blueberry, Strawberry, Cherry and Blackberry. Frozen Berries are also a lot cheaper and is available year round.
- Ice cubes – Never serve an iced tea without the ice, what’s the point? Unless you are serving it hot, then skip the ice.
Substitution
Please note that substitutions will alter the original taste
- Lemon 🍋- substitute with Orange 🍊
- Mint – substitute with Basil 🌿
