Make-Ahead

Yes, yes, yes 🙂 You can make this as make-ahead. Simply assembe everything in a pan and cover it with plastic wrap. Keeping this overnight will give the croissant time to soak in the delicious creamy custard. I suggest just enough custard to coat the croissant. Unlike day old loaf, croissant is more fragile and light and soaking too much will make the texture soggy. As for the chocolate, you can use chop chocolate or chocolate chips. Dark, semi-sweet, white or combination or 2-3 are great options.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Large Croissant
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tablespoon Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure Vanilla Extract
  • pinch Salt
  • Chocolate Chips

Instructions:

  1. Cut the croissant into 1/2-inch thick.
  2. Arrange in a 5-inch pan.
  3. Insert chocolate chips or chop chocolate in between the sliced of croissant.
  4. Make the custard by mixing the egg, milk, brown sugar and pure vanilla extract.
  5. Pour over the croissant.
  6. Bake at pre-heated oven 350F for about 20 – 30 minutes or until the chocolate is melted and the croissant is lightly toasted.
