How To Make Pizza Dough From Scratch

Who wants meat?? I mean lots and lots of meat! If you are one of those people who enjoy meat overload on pizza, then you just got lucky because this pizza is all about meat. Load them up, stock them up with meat, it’s your pizza anyway So do as you please. This is the beauty of homemade pizza, it’s flexible and customizable to your liking, and you don’t get charge for additional toppings.
I wouldn’t say I am a meat lovers because I like to it on the lighter side. The likes of salad and seafood, Salmon and shrimp are my favorite. But from time to time, and that time is today, I crave for something super meaty. I don’t crave meat as often, so when I do, I make sure to make the most of it. And so I loaded this pizza with meat that I have in my fridge. And if you noticed, this is a half and half meat lovers pizza, 2 different flavors in one amazing pizza. What better choice of meat than spicy minced beef and roasted chicken breast. I would add chorizo if I have it because its my ultimate favorite in pizza, but unfortunately I don’t have them. This should be enough for now, there’s still tomorrow.

I used my easy and simple homemade crust, and made I thin crust from it. I want the crust crunchy and thin so that the meat will stand out. I added my choice of meat, assorted veggies and lots of cheese on top. It’s definitely a meat lovers pizza like no other. If you are not feeling like so much meat, I also have veggie pizza which is my Grilled Jalapeño and Cheese Pizza, check it out. Now, let’s make this meat lovers pizza happen. Let’s get started!
Grilling Tips:
- Pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before putting toppings on it: The reason we are doing this is to partially bake the dough before it hits the grill and then we will let the grill finish the job. It will be slightly puff up but not thoroughly baked like in the photo above. This way, by the time the cheese starts to melt and the crust starts to brown, the crust is already cooked through inside and out. You don’t want a burned gummy crust when you serve it.
- Grease the top of your grill with oil before turning the grilling on. This will help avoiding the crust from sticking to the grill when you lift it. We want our pizza to retain its shape and form till the very end.
- Pre-heat your grill. It’s just like when you are baking, you want your grill to be really hot before you put down the pizza crust.
- Thin crust pizza can get burned easily, so keep an eye on the grill. You will only need 1-2 minutes to grill the pizza if you have the grill pre-heated, so keep an eye on it. You should see grill marks at the bottom of the pizza once its done.
- Use something flat to lift up the pizza. You don’t want to break or tear it apart while you take it out from the grill. Slide a lifter from the edge to the center to remove the possibility of crust sticking to the grill. The pizza should be easy to lift and you should see grill marks at the bottom.

Just follow this 5 simple tips and you’re on your way to having the best homemade grilled pizza. Let’s get started!

Ingredients:
- Pizza Dough – I used my easy Homemade Pizza Dough recipe
- 1 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese
- 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce
- Ground Beef, Chicken, Pepperoni, Sausage, Ham etc (Use whatever meat you like)
- 2 Cloves Garlic – minced
- 1 small Onion – sliced thinly
- 3/4 chili Flakes
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 Black Pepper
- 1/2 cup Bell Pepper
- 1 small Tomato – sliced in rounds
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 Bell Pepper (Yellow/Red/Green/Orange)
Note: Toppings are flexible. Change or use whatever meat you prefer.
Instructions:
- Prepare pizza dough. I used my Homemade Pizza Dough .
- In a heated pan, add olive oil, garlic, onion, meat, salt, chili and black peppers. Saute until meat is cook through. Adjust seasoning to your preference. If you are using beef and chicken, saute seprately so that you can make half chicken half beef.
- Pre-heat the oven to 350F and pre-bake pizza dough for 5 minutes. It will be slightly puff up but not entirely baked. The grill will do the job of making the crust crispy.
- Grease the grill and pre-heat to 400F, then lower the temperature to 350F.
- Make your pizza crust to your desired size and shape. This is a free form pizza, so it doesn’t matter if it is not perfectly round. I made mine thin, around 1/4-inch, adjust to your preference. The thicker the pizza, the longer the grilling time.
- Spread marinara sauce on top of pizza dough.
- Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Arrange toppings on top. I made half beef and half chicken and added different toppings on each.
- Sprinkle with more cheese on top. Feel free to add more toppings as desired.
- Grill the pizza for 3-5 minutes (lid close) or until the cheese melts and the bottom of the pizza has grill marks and the crust is crispy.
