I wouldn’t consider a library a tourist attraction or at least something that I would visit when I am on vacation. I made an exception for the Halifax Central Public Library because I was impressed with what I saw in the video of one blogger who did a walkthrough inside the library. To be real, I wouldn’t probably have the time to visit this place if the weather cooperated during my visit to Halifax.

Halifax weather is very unpredictable, true enough to what people say. I wouldn’t mind a bit of a rain as I am used to it being someone from Vancouver, but boy the wind here is crazy, like crazy scary!

Anyway, it was a Sunday and it rained late afternoon so I decided to take shelter and pass time exploring the library. I was impressed with what I saw. It was huge, a 5 storey modern public library that anyone would want to hangout. No wonder there’s a lot of people both young and adult hanging out in this library.

Not only that the library is huge, it is very modern, bright, clean, well organized and not too crowded.

There are a lot of things I love about this place, but the rooftop patio is the best part. They have Amsterdam Cafe both at the ground and 5th floor. The 5th floor have an open took top patio that you can sit and enjoy the sun.

Every floor has each own focus, but the 5th floor is the one I like the most. Not only that it has the roof top patio and cafe, the 5th floor is not as crowded and busy which is a good area to really relax.

Overall, I am glad I stopped by to check this place. I have a video covering all levels of the library, if you are interested, have a look at the video below.

I’ve added a timestamp for each floor in case you want to skip and just pick levels you want to see. Enjoy!

Halifax Library

My experience visiting the Public Library

I was really impressed how clean, modern and organized the Halifax Public Library. I wouldn’t consider it an attraction but it was a good place for me to hangout when the rain start pouring. I explored all the levels and every levels are really very impressive.

All levels are very spacious, organized and modern and each floor has their own specialty. My favourite was the 5th floor as it was the more quiet level of the Library. They also have the Ampersand Cafe, patio and sunroof at the level which were really nice.

I you are in the area and have time to spare, have a look inside and maybe have some snacks at the sunroof in 5th floor.

What I cook when on vacation

It might sound unconventional, but really love making meals from time to time. Although trying new cuisine and food is really nice, I still miss home cooking. Luckily, the airbnb I stayed at is fully furnished and the kitchen was well equipped with what I need to cook simple easy meals. Since Halifax has quite an abundance of seafood, I cooked mostly Salmon and Cod dishes, with one day of cooking a steak for a change. It was great and I would definitely do this again given the chance.
