This Crispy Salmon Rice Packets has been showing up in my Facebook lately and so I thought why not give it a try. I love Salmon, this and Basa fish are 2 or my favorite fish to cook at home. Salmon is so quick to cook, you can have a meal in less than 30 minutes. Don’t be intimidated

This is a simple recipe, so do not run away from it. This is basically just a seared Salomon. What makes it quite different and interesting is the fact that it was wrapped in rice paper with small amount of rice with it, and then seared again to get the crispy crunchy texture. You can make this with or without the rice but I feel that adding the rice makes it a meal on its own rather than just an appetizer. This reminds me a lot of a Vietnamese Shrimp Spring Roll which also uses rice paper. Although this is a simple recipe, the extra step of wrapping it with rice paper and searing it gave the Salmon a different look and it made it more interesting. I opted for seating with minimal oil but If you did not mind using too much oil, you can have it fried.

How to Make Salmon Rice Packets

The steps are very simple, you can even customize the filling and use other ingredients that you like. Use the idea as a guide and play around with ingredients that you love.

This recipe uses rice paper. If you haven’t used it before, you can buy it in Asian stores or in the Asian or International section in the grocery. The rice paper comes is round or 8-inches and about 1/8-inch (or maybe even less) thickness. It is hard and brittle and cannot be used as it to wrap anything.

The first thing you need to do is to soften the rice paper. This is done by soaking the rice paper in water and leaving it there for about 30 – 69 seconds. I have a video on how I used this when I made my Vietnamese
