[VIDEO] Dairy Free|Finger Licking Good| Chocolate Hummus Spread with Toasted Almonds

Toast to a decadent toast 🙂

Consider this a follow-up posts for the last week post. Last week, I shared with you my Chocolate Hummus made from canned chickpeas. I thought you how to make it but I never got the chance to show you how to use it. Ok, maybe it is a no brainer but I still want to show you how I enjoy that chocolate hummus. There are different ways you can use it, but for me I often use it to make a sweet dessert style toast. It could be a breakfast toast or a snack toast. Let us count the ways on how I used it. But before we do that, let us have a recap on how to make this easy Chocolate Hummus that we are going to use today. Here is a short video, let’s watch it!

Strawberry Banana Chocolate Hummus Toast

How to Make Chocolate Hummus 🙂

That is how simple and easy it is to make this hummus. The only thing is that you will need a high speed blended or food processor. If you have them, they take them out and make this dessert style hummus.

Let’s Dip It!

Savory hummus is usually used as a dip although nowadays people are being creative finding different ways on how to use it. For instance, you can use hummus as pasta sauce, as pasta dressing. You can even add it in soup or stews to add creaminess to the texture. Just like the savory hummus, you can use this sweet hummus for dipping. I would recommend Strawberry and Banana, they’re perfect to dip in this hummus.

Spread it on Toast – Strawberry & Banana

This is basically what this post is all about. This hummus on toast is so good. My favorite fruit to use are Strawberry & Banana. During the Summer when we have an adundance of Strawberry, this is one of my go to use of fresh Strawberry.

You can also combine it with other spread, like any nut butter. For this one, I topped it with sliced Banana, almond butter, dessicated coconut and pumpkin seeds.

Spoon it and Eat it 🙂

Ok, you might be thinking, really? Oh YES, really. I mean we eat Nutella by spoonful like there’s no tomorrow, so why not this one? The great thing about this is that this is not too sweet and not too sugary so a spoonful will not be as overwhelming as a spoonful of Nutella or any other chocolate spread.

If you’ve a brea roll before with chocolate spread inside, you can also use this hummus for that. Look at how beautiful this look? Waht until you actually try it.

One good thing I noticed when I used this as a filling for Babka is that it is not as messay as when using melting chocolate. It sticks nicely to the surface and the bread has a subtle sweetness which was really nice.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Can Chickpea (540ml)
  • 4 tablespoon Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 5 tablespoon Maple Syrup (more or less depending on your sweetness level preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon table Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Confectioners Sugar (optional)
  • 2 tablespoon Tahini
  • 2 tablespoon Chickpea Water – ONLY as needed to thin out the consistency
  • Bread Toast

Instructions:

  1. Wash and drain chickpeas. Rinse the chickpea and transfer in a bowl with water. Reserve about 2 tablespoon of the chickpea water in case you want to thin out the consistency later.Using your hands, rub the chickpea to easily remove the skin. The skin will automatically float on top once removed.
  2. Puree the Ingredients: Put all ingredients in the food processor, except water. Use the water only if you want a thinner consistency, otherwise you can leave it out. Process until texture becomes smooth, around 3-4 minutes. Gradually add water (as needed) and continue mixing until you get the consistency that you like. You can skip the water if you want a thick hummus consistency, or if you want it sweeter add more maple syrup instead of water.
  3. Serve: Spread on toast and top with desired toppings.
