[VIDEO] Giovane Caffe @Downtown Vancouver

One of the Sunday where I feel like hanging out in a cafe after my early morning errands. I am really liking this “Me Time” Sunday. I cannot believe I could stay out for 2-3 hrs in a cafe just sitting and writing a blog. It’s relaxing, and it’s delicious 🤤

Although there’s really no recipe to share here, I feel that having a time to ourself (if time permits) is a good treat that we can give ourselves. Today is not about a recipe, nothing about cooking or baking, just is hanging out and enjoying doing nothing crazy. We all deserve that.

I like to do this in a cafe. I prefer hanging out in unique cafe, local and community cafes. I find that these cafe have a lot more character and charm to offer, not to mention most of them offers even a better products than large chain cafes.

I like cafes that have nice cozy interior, something that is not busy that I have to book a reservation. I like cafe where I do not feel rush to leave. A place where I can hangout and relax without the worry of someone giving me an eye and hint that I had been there for too long 🙂

In fairness, I made sure I have something in the table while I am there to somehow pay for the stay.

This is one good thing about local cafe, they do not bother you if you want to hangout there for a long time. They just let you be, and that’s what I need 🙂

The one I am sharing with you today is Giovane Caffe located in downtown Vancouver. Most of the cafe I visited are easily accessible, and a lot of them are in downtown Vancouver which gave me opportunity to walk around after my breakfast.

The cafe is not that big, but the interior was nice, cozy and inviting. The moment I walked in I just want to stay and do nothing but enjoy a cup of drink and a good pastry.

I discovered this caffe by accident when I was looking for a restaurant in downtown. The interior caught my eye and so I stepped in to have a look, I liked what I saw and so I had this down in my cafe to visit.

The layout is almost like an “L” shaped where most of the sitting are in front while the counter is at the side.

The Conversation Room

What’s nice about this cafe is that they have what they call “Conversation Room” if you want a more private and quite area for talking. I almost missed this area, I’m glad I saw it before I left. It’s a circular area with high chairs and side tables facing a glass wall.

The staff were very helpful. As soon as I walked in I was greeted cheerfully. She made recommendations when she noticed I was having difficulty deciding what to order.

What’s on the menu

They have few selections of panini sandwiches for a filling brunch option. They have options that cater for both vegetarian and meat lovers.

Of course they have coffee, that’s their specialty but they also have tea and hot chocolate for those who cannot tolerate a strong coffee (that’s me!).

Pastries are in the menu too. There are few selections of bars, tarts, croissants and cakes. Nothing much but enough for a good pairing with coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

Something filling to start with

I ended up ordering Pollo Panini, which is basically a chicken panini. The bread was a nice thick focaccia bread, which chicken, arugula, sundried tomato, prosciutto, and cheese.

Cheers to Hot Chocolate!

For the drinks, I ordered Hot Chocolate. I am often hesitant to get hot chocolate because a lot of cafe I had visited do not have that hot chocolate that I prefer. That is dark chocolate, strong chocolate flavor, not too sweet and not overwhelming. This cafe definitely checked all these requirements. I love it.

Sweet Endings ..

Tough choice for a dessert. I almost think I made a wrong choice ordering a chocolate cake with hot chocolate as it feels like too much chocolate

I am happy to report that I was wrong. The cake was perfect, this reminds me of my Flourless Chocolate Cake.

For the dessert, I ordered Torta Caprese which is basically a gluten free chocolate torte cake. My guess was it was made using Almond flour based on the texture and taste. I love how soft and moist it was, and not too sweet.

Overall, the experience was great. I highly recommend this place and would definitely come back here again.

Oh before I end this, I thought I’d share this unique piano displayed in the lobby where the caffe is located.
