I am not that person who can eat a lot and go back several times in the buffet table. In fact, I even have this tendency to get overwhelmed when I see a spread of food in front of me to the point that I cannot eat. For some reason, even with all these, I am fascinated and drawn to buffet meals which I know is weird and goes against what I just told you.
Sometimes I think for me it’s more the fun of photographing the food and creating video more than actually eating the food.
I leave in British Columbia Canada where there’s been a lot of offering now for brunch or dinner buffet. I have to tell you that when you see the spread of food in Instagram and in the restaurant website, you will understand why I am fascinated with them. I had been wanting to try one although I am 100% sure that I will not even be able to eat half of the food that they offer. Well, it’s an experience to try and so I decided to give it a try.
On one sunny Saturday, me and my friend went for a bottomless brunch at ARC Restaurant. It’s not a buffet but the way it works is that they have brunch menu in tasting portions (1-2 person per serving) and you can order all the items in the bottomless brunch menu however many times you like. They have selections of items to choose from, and 1 smoothie drink option and 1 dessert option.

Weekend Bottomless Brunch
10:30am – 2:30pm (Saturday + Sunday, last reservation 1:30pm)
The bottomless brunch is by reservation and it costs 65CAD/person and all the party in the table should commit to the bottomless experience. Meaning if there’s two of us, I cannot have the bottomless while my friend have the alacarte. I was wondering why before and then I think I managed to figure it out. This could be to avoid sharing of the bottomless item to the person who is not having it which I think was very clever. For me and my friend, we were only able to order 1 item of most of the items and we shared all of them and still we were not able to finish it. So in the end, we basically just ordered for one b it paid for two person. This will be more recommended for people who can eat a lot to make the most of the 65CAD.

Interior
ARC Restaurant has a very nice cozy interior just what you would expect from a restaurant inside the Fairmont Hotel. It has a nice view of the waterfront.
What’s in the Menu
We did the bottomless brunch which consist of 10 selections small tasting plates. The items are mostly savory, 1 smoothie and 1 dessert.

Service
The service was great just what I expected from a restaurant like this. This is more like a fine dining restaurant of the Fairmont Hotel. The staff were all nice, attentive and cheerful which made the experience better. The food service was quick which was great as we were both famished when we got there. We really prepared for this moment 😉
What we ordered
We had ordered almost all the items in the menu with the exception of few. We want to reserve the least favorite one at the end in case we still have space to order more. For now. let’s get the items that first caught our eyes.
Buttermilk Biscuits with Honey Butter

This was one of the signature item in their bottomless menu and was the first one that was served to us. I really liked this biscuit. The exterior was crunchy and the inside was soft. It came with honey butter which was a bit sweeter than I would like it to be but nonetheless, this is a must try.
Lobster Mac & Cheese with mornay sauce

This is my top favorite in all the items that we tried. The sauce was just right, the dish was flavorful and there was actually lobster meat in it. This is a must try item for me.
Fried Chicken & Waffles

Another one of the signature item in the menu. The chicken was ok, but it was a bit soggy and not crispy as I expected it to be. The waffles was thin and bit bland to my taste. I would say it was just ok but still something that is in must try item.
Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict – pickled onions, chive hollandaise

The salmon was very “Smokey” indeed, very strong flavor. The bread was soggy though.
Eggs Florentine – poached egg, creamed spinach, gruyere, grilled sourdough
Chilaquiles – chicken tinga, tomatoes, cheddar

This was probably my least favorite. It doesn’t have much taste, definitely something that I will not order again.
This one looks almost like nachos topped with shredded chicken. It was tasty but the nachos was soggy and soft probably because of being too socked with the sauce from the chicken. we barely ate half of it.
Beef Shortribs Poutine – fries, cheese curds, foie, beef gravy

I am not into poutine but I decided to order this to give it a try. I was surprised that I actually like it. The beef was so tender and the sauce was very flavor. This is a must try item for me.
Roesti – prosciutto, burrata, arugula

Not one of my favorite but my friend really love this one. I ate the toppings and left the potato hash untouched because I was already too full.
Turkish Egg – lamb sausage, labneh, poached eggs, chilli sauce

I’ve made Turkisg Egg before at home and so I know what it should taste like. This loks like more a shakshuka to me and it comes a bit short to me. The sauce was quite bland, almost like eating an unseasoned tomato sauce.
Berry Smoothie – blueberry, banana, strawberry, raspberry, coconut milk

This is the only drink option in the menu. I really like this one and is a must try item for me. It was light and I like that they used coconut milk for this one. I could do seconds on this if I was not too full.
Ooey Gooey Skillet – apple compote, croissant baked skillet, cream cheese icing

This so the only dessert in the menu and is a must try item. I wished I ordered this first so that I can have eaten the entire serving. It was served warm fresh from the oven and the cream cheese frosting was so delicious and made the dish really taste amazing. I wish I had more space to eat more of this.
What we did not order
There were few items in the menu that we skipped and did not order because we are too full to eat anything else. We did not order the following:
- Steel Cut Oat Risotto – mushroom, parmesan cheese, poached egg, cheese sauce
- Bircher Muesli^ – oats, chia seeds, almonds, maple syrup, toasted coconut, hazelnut crumb
My personal favorites
I had quite a few favorites from the items in the bottomless menu, they are the following:
- Buttermilk Biscuits – honey butter
- Lobster Mac And Cheese – mornay sauce
- Beef Shortrib Poutine – fries, cheese curds, foie, beef gravy
- Berry Smoothie – blueberry, banana, strawberry, raspberry, coconut milk
- Smoked Salmon Benedict – pickled onions, chive hollandaise
- Ooey Gooey Skillet – apple compote, croissant baked skillet, cream cheese icing
Is it worth it?
We stayed for about 2 hrs although the reservation says the seating was for 1 1/2 hrs. We got the last seating reservation and there was not a lot of people so we were able to stay until 3:00PM.
I really had a great time with my friend but I find that this is not something that I will do again or even recommend to someone. I feel that the 65CAD per person was too overpriced for the quality and selection of items. I would rather do an open buffet than do this bottomless option. It was good one time but nothing that I will do again.
There are a lot of restaurants now offering open buffet for brunch or combination of bottomless and open buffet which will be more value for your money.
If you still want to eat at ARC Restaurant for brunch, it is better to do the ala carte and ordered 1 or 2 good quality item and really enjoy it and pay less than 65CAD. Just my 2 cents, in the end the choice is yours.
Have you tried bottomless brunch at ARC before? Let me know what you think about it.
That’s about it for now, thanks for hanging out with me. Until my next food trip adventure. Byeeee ❤️
