Starting My Day @Analog Coffee in Calgary, Alberta

Part of my daily routine on a weekday is to wake up early to go for a run. This is a routine I followed religiously whenever I can, but not so much when I am away from home. This is what made my visit to Calgary a bit more unusual in a good way.

I’ve already mentioned this in my “Experiencing Life in Calgary”’post but I’m mention it again to get a context of what this post is about.

I went to Calgary to visit a friend of mine and she generously opened her home to me. I stayed with her the entire duration of the trip, experiencing what’s it’s like to live in Calgary.

Their house is quite close to everyday essentials as well as shops, cafe and restaurants. If you’re routine is just to go out and get stuff for day to day use or dine out from time to time, this area is good.

I did not spent much time and so what the surrounding area offers is more than enough to keep me entertained.

My entertainment is mostly going out for a run in the morning and walking during noon and evening. Sometimes, a stopover at cafe and shops cannot be avoided but a welcome activity for me.

The is where Analog Coffee Cafe comes in to the picture. This cafe is my favorite stop ever in the morning after my run. In fairness, this is the only cafe in the area that is open so far not counting A&W although not a cafe but also offers breakfast options.

Analog Coffee offers tradition items a cafe would offer. They specialized in coffee but they also have pastry and sandwiches.

The cafe is quite large for a coffee shop, it is spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff are all very welcoming, helpful and polite. All the pastries I’ve tried so far are all good … actually they are great more than just good.

Let’s get something drink

Simply Hot Chocolate

I am not a coffee drinker and so hot chocolate is often my first choice when visiting any cafe. That followed by tea or a latte. I appreciate hot chocolate that have intense dark chocolate flavor. Creamy but not too overwhelming. It’s often a challenge finding a good hot chocolate as a lot that I’ve tried so far are a bit water down, not so much of intense chocolate flavor. For this hot chocolate, I think I would like it to be a bit more intense in flavor.

Vibrant Turmeric Latte

I had to try this! I make Turmeric Latte at home but it is always different getting it from the cafe. Talk about the creative latte art on top, that I cannot do at home. This latte is not only beautiful, it tasted nice. For me Turmeric doesn’t really have a taste although some people would argue on that. Maybe the flavor is just not too intense for me to notice. It’s more of color than flavor for me. The only thing I wished I did was to substitute default milk for oat milk.

Matcha 🍵 Latte

I wish I had more time to try the other latte, but unfortunately I don’t. So on my last day, I decided to go for Matcha Oat Latte. It was good, I think this was my favorite among the 3 drinks that I tried. It was unsweetened by default, I requested a touch of vanilla added to it and then added a bit of sweetener. I always did pure matcha to be too bitter

Pastry to go with the drink

Of course I had to try the pastry 🙂 they have a lot of selections and l choose from but I only have so much space in my stomach and so I picked top 3 that appeals to me.

Jalapeño Scones

I like both sweet and savory pastry but I often like starting with something savory first and ending with a bit of sweet treats assuming I still have space. This is the only savory bites that they had at that time; not counting the sandwiches. Being a lover of Jalapeño, this was my first choice. The scones was soft and it tasted great. I wouldn’t mind getting this again.

Chocolate Banana Muffin

Let’s try something sweet. I was craving for something chocolatey and this was the first one that caught my eye. Ohhh, it was delicious!! The muffin was soft, moist and the chocolate chips inside were melting when I sliced it. Huge thumbs up for this.

Blueberry Sour Cream Muffin

After trying the Chocolate Banana Muffin, I had high expectation for this one and I was not disappointed at all. It was soft, moist and loaded with Blueberry. I had it heated and smothered it with butter and it was so good. Describing this one now makes me want to have a piece 🙂

Well, this post ended up longer than I expected. That’s what happens when you are having so much fun. I hope you had fun reading this post too.

Until my next adventure. Byeeeee!
