Pure Butter Goodness @Pie junkie – Calgary, Alberta

If you happen to visit Calgary and you are a lover or anything sweet & savory pie, then let me introduce you to Pie Junkie and Bakery. The stuff in this bakery is additive, once you try one, you would want to try the rest. Trust me on that. I wanted to try a lot of things but I run out of time. I’ll definitely give this place a visit if I come back to Calgary.

When I first saw this shop, the name caught my eye. It was quite unique and at the same time unusual, Pie Junkie! After trying their baked goodies, it made sense to me. Both sweet and savory pies are addictive. If I live close to this place, I will be a pie junkie myself. It’s that good. It has a rustic look and a very homemade taste that I like. Feels like something that I would make at home. Fresh, buttery and full of flavor.

The place is not that big, but do not underestimate the simplicity of this bakery. Both the sweet and savory pie are delicious, at least the once that I’ve tried.

Savory Pie – Steak & Mushroom

They have quite a variety of savory pie that would cater to people with different preferences. Whether you are into sweet or savory, this place will not disappoint. I ordered Steak and Mushroom Pie. I cannot even begin to explain how delicious it was. Very rarely that I find a pie that I really love, but this one fits all my checklist for a five star savory pie.

The pie crust … so flaky! I was told that this are all made in house, pure butter no lard, no margarine. Just pure butter, now it make sense why it taste so good. Anything with lots of butter .. five star :). The steak and mushroom filling tasted amazing! It was perfectly seasoned, it was creamy and the steak was so tender. I did not need a fork to eat this. Grab, bite and enjoy, but I did use fork still just because I was eating outside, don’t want to get into a messy situation.

The Sweet Pie – Banana Toffee

I am a savory and sweet eater. Which means I prefer to get something savory first and a little bit of something sweet at the end. Like sweet endings 🙂 The sweet pies are a work of art, stunning, beautiful and delicious. I tried the Banana Toffee which is one of my favorite pie. I used to make this at home but I wouldn’t mind trying something from outside.

I have to say, I made the right choice. The pie crust is as delicious as the savory pies, the filling is a combination of sweetened sliced banana and Carmel toffee, topped with fluffy whipped cream and delicately decorated with shaved chocolate and some tiny flowers, which I assume are all edible. I did not ate them though, I am not into edible flowers.

Overall, I highly recommend this place. You may or may not be able to visit this place and so I thought it’s worth sharing my delicious experience at this place. Amazing product and fantastic customer service. The lady who attended to me was so nice and welcoming. She told me she used to live in Sunshine Coast in BC before moving here.

It was definitely as delicious adventure for me. I wouldn’t mind doing it again. Thank You for stopping by, until my next adventure. Byeeeee! ❤️.
