A Taste of France @Foret Noire Patisserie, Vancouver BC

I had good memories visiting Paris, France. So many good memories and more so delicious food adventures.

Aside from the sight of Eiffel Tower, Arc Du Triump and the Luvre, the culinary experience is one that I will always fondly remember. The perfectly layered, thin and crispy tall Croissants and perfectly shaped Macaroon, the delicious generously topped Danishes and something I often look for in cafe here in Vancouver.

Luckily, there are more cafe in Downtown Vancouver now that offers pastry of almost the same quality as France. To make my top 3 choices, Paul Cafe & Restaurant, Faubourg Cafe & Foret Noire. I’ve been to all 3 and they all were great in their own way. But today, what I will be sharing with you is my visit at Foret Noire. Let’s go check it out! I prepared a short video for better viewing of the cafe.

The Cafe Interior

This cafe hae a very nice interior with a bit more posh furniture to give a Parisian vibe. They have velvet fuschia and grey chairs that are comfortable to sit on. There a a huge TV monitor in the center that rotates photos of Paris and a large wall with Parish attractions wall paper.

The Menu at a Glance

It was lovely, cozy and elegant. The space was not that big, but it was very modern, bright and elegant looking. I like the French theme they have inside. The wall papers and the huge monitor showing places in France. It’s a taste of France in Vancouver.

Let’s have a look at what they have. From cookie, cakes, pastry, drinks and soon a breakfast item. For now let’s focus on what is available. Check this galley out l!

The Macaroon Counter

What is French experience without the famous Macarons? This small delicate Almond based cookie is a famous cookie of French origin. It is made with Almond flour, icing sugar and egg white. A sandwich cookie filled with cream filling in the middle.

The Dainty Chocolate Counter

If chocolate is your thing, this place have few specialty hand made chocolate selections. They have cute and unique chocolate like the this chocolate flavored lipstick which looks so real! This could really fool me for a real lipstick.

The CakeCounter

My Choice – Sacher (10.95 CAD)

I decided to get the Sacher mini cake to satisfy my chocolate craving. It was a great choice. I love the alternating delicate flaky layer filled with cream and apricot jam. The chocolate flavor was dark but not bitter. I enjoyed every bite of this cake.

This is one counter that I definitely stood in front while contemplating what I should get. I’ve just had a savory breakfast and what I was craving for was a sweet chocolate dessert, so this is definitely my counter for today. All the cakes looks delicious! I had a difficult time deciding which one to get.

The Croissant & Danish Counter

Oh my!! If this is not a sight that would make you drool, I don’t what. If I haven’t eaten anything yet, I would probably get the Strawberry Croissant, that one is such a beautiful sight to look at, not to mention it looks so good! This is definitely something that I would have to go back and try. One item at a time.

Exotic Flower – 10.99 CAD

Mango Mousse, Praline feuilletine, coconut decquoise, fresh mangoes, white chocolate chantilly, passion fruit cremeux.

Oh dear .. this cake taste so good! the mousse and chantilly creme was so light, the Mango flavour was so fresh and the passion fruiy cremeux was a nice touch with a subtle flavor

Cheers to the Drinks

Hot or cold, they got you covered! Definitely, the tea and coffee would make a great pair for cakes and croissants.

Blended Pineapple – 5.95 CAD

I ordered the Iced Cold Blended Pineapple which is a blend of pineapple, orange, mango and mojito syrup.
