[VIDEO] Explore British Columbia: Escape to Deep Cove, A Hidden Gem in North Vancouver

Today I am taking you to a virtual trip with to Deep Cove in North Vancouver. It’s been years since I last visited this place but I can still recall the fun memories doing hike at the Quarry Rock. More than the trip itself, it was the friends who mad the other experiences memorable. The fun hike at Quarry Rock and the delicious meals that follows afterwards are good memories I hold on until today.

Deep Cove Day Trip

Tucked away on the eastern edge of North Vancouver, Deep Cove is the kind of place that feels like a secret haven—yet once you’ve visited, you’ll want to tell everyone about it. This charming waterfront village, framed by towering forests and calm waters, is the ultimate getaway for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone in need of a peaceful retreat. A great day trip activity that doesn’t require hours of driving.

Whether you’re here for a kayak session on the glassy inlet, a scenic hike up Quarry Rock, or simply a cozy afternoon indulging in honey-dipped doughnuts from the iconic local café, Deep Cove has a way of slowing time and soothing the soul. The air is crisp, the views are breathtaking, and the small-town charm is irresistible. Such a blessing to have a charming place like this that is only half an hour from Vancouver.

Sunny Days are Perfect to Visit Deep Cove

We were blessed with a really nice weather thirst past few days, the Spring season is finally coming along. Soon it will be Summer! Before we jump into Summer, let’s enjoy the cool temperatures the Spring brings along with some sunny days.  Spring when it’s sunny, is my favorite season. I love the cool breeze and the warmth of the sun, it feels even better than Summer.

Today was another one of those gorgeous day. It was sunny, about 13-15C, a perfect day to be out in the sun. As I mentioned, today is about showing you around Deep Cove. Let’s talk more about Deep Cove, where it is located and you can do in the area.

For me, Deep Cove is a place for short hiking at Quarry Rock, delicious sandwiches at Dip Co, and sweet treats at Honey Doughnuts and ice cream if you still have time. It is a nice day trip get away that is not too far. Regardelss if you are driving or not, this place is very accessible which makes it even better for me.

Getting There

Going to Dee Cove is not difficult. From Vancouver, it is about 30 minutes driving and about an hour by public transit (bus). If you are driving, it is advisable to come early due to limited parking. There are few pay parking but they are quite small, and also some side parking which always get packed as soon as peak hours hits. This is the advantage of taking public transit if don’t have anything heavy to carry. Hop on the bus, stroll around and hop back on, quick and easy. I took the bus 211 (Seymour) from West Pender in DT Vancouver. Took about one hour on a weekend.

This was more like an unplanned trip. I was looking for something to pass time and I thought this could be a nice place. I did not do any hiking this time, just a relax walk around the area and some delicious treats 🙂

Deep Cove

This is How a Sandwich Should Be

Brunch was at Dip Co. This place is famous for their Italian Sandwiches with freshly baked Focaccia bread, generous amount of meat, veggies and cheese! It was a thich, loaded, beautiful sandwhich to say the least! Have a look at the video and see how thick the bread is and how generously it is stuffed. This is how Italia sandwiched should be.

I got the Manzo (16.99CAD). It has Roast beef, fresh tomato, roasted eggplant salad, fresh cheese, mixed green and tomato sauce.

It was a good looking sandwich, gorgeous I would say 🙂 The focaccia bread was freshly baked and was still hot. The bread was crunchy, so delicious I can eat it on its own without anything in it. The sandwich was very generous with the sliced beef, leafy greens and eggplant! What would make it even better would be a little bit more spices for taste. Overall, I highly recommend this place for reasonably priced Italian sandwiches. I ate half of the sandwich as it was huge and saved the other half for later.

Waterfront Walk

After brunch, I walk around to explore the place. I walked by the waaterfront beach which was still quiet at that time. The water was crystal clear and inviting, but it was still cold for a swim. Nobody dares to take the plunge.

There are plenty of area to sit which was great. There were also picnic areas and huge lawn where people can spread around and have a meal.

Kayaking a Popular Activity in Deep Cove

Kayaking is one of the activities that Deep Cove if known for. People go here to rent or some bring their own kayak. Looks so nice to be out 🙂 too bad this is not my thing.

7 Minutes Kayaking Tutorial Instructions

I took a video of the instructor doing a session to a group of people. Not that I will be able to use it, but if you are intereted, have a look at the video.

Honey Doughnuts & Goodies

After a few walk around, it’s time to have a snack. I stopped by at Honey Doughnuts and Goodies. This place is famous for their .. doughnuts. They serve breakfast/brunch items but their doughnuts are what people come here for. To be honest, I am not a doughnut person but after all what I’ve read and heard about this place, I have to give to a try.

One piece, that’s my limit. I ordered the Cinnamon Sugar Doughnuts. It is a deep fried thick and heavy doughnut rolled in cinnamon sugar.

They do not have a lot of flavor here, only 7 but people are crazy about it. I am about to find out why.

Deep Cove Honey Doughnuts

So the doughnuts. It was thick and heavy which sets it apart compared to Renault doughnuts. It was soft but dense. It was ok, maybe because I am not into doughnuts that I find this just ok. It was almost like a cake than a doughnut. Nonetheless, it was worth the try but not something that I would line up for.

Thats about it for today’s virtual travel tour. Next time I come back, I try the Deep Cove Pizza which is also popular in this area, that plus the ice cream.

Thank you for stopping by. Until my next travel adventure.. Byeee!
