[VIDEO] Café Adventures: Discovering Nemesis Café

The weather is getting warmer, time to go out and enjoy the sun 🌞 I’m starting early doing my cafe visits during weekend, oh I miss doing this. Visiting cafe early in the morning during Sunday is something that I look forward to. I don’t get to do it often, only during nice sunny days which would be Spring & Summer time. I have a long, very long list of cafe and places that I want to visit and it doesn’t even fit my limited time.

Today I visited Nemesis Cafe. I’ve seen a lot of people posting their visit in this place and that what prompted me to choose this cafe among the many cafe I have in my list. The one in great Canadian Way location was the one I was hoping to visit because of the unique building structure. I ended up visiting the Gastown location because this one is more accessible for me. This was only 8 minutes walk from Waterfront Station which is the last stop of the train I normally take to go to downtown.

I got there around 10:00AM and there were a bit of a line up but not that long. The lineup was inside the cafe. There were very few tables available when I got there. They do not allow you to take a sit unless you already paid for your order.

The line up move quickly so I did not have to wait for a long time. I got a seat just in time when I was ordering. There are quite a few pastries that looks interesting to try but I can only eat so much. I opted for a savory sandwich and a small sweet treat for my dessert.

General Information

  • Address: 302 W Hastings St, Vancouver
  • Website: Nemesis Cafe

Interior

The interior of the cafe was nice and cozy. It was not a huge place but they made sure that the seating area are comfortable and nicely spaced. The distance between tables are good as they are not too close to each other.

They could have added more tables in between but they prioritize the comfort of customers. They have communal table in the middle, window side seating and few tables outside.

What’s in the Menu

This cafe offers small selection of brunch items. Their popular item in the menu is the Mortadela croissant sandwich.

The price for brunch is quite expensive but I guess that is how it is now. Nothing is cheap. Eating out for brunch will cost you around 30 – 35CAD if you order a complete meal like a savory item, dessert and drinks. If you are resourceful, you can find a 37CAD for a buffet breakfast, that is if you want more value for your money.

They have sweet and savory items in the cafe which makes it a nice breakfast/brunch place. They few brunch items in the menu and more sweet pastries. The likes of croissant, their famous Cruffin, cream puffs, cookies and more.

Service

The service was great and the staff were nice and helpful. This place gets really packed with long line up extending outside the cafe. By 10:30AM the line up was until outside the cafe.

What I Ordered

Mortadella Supreme (12.50CAD)

The sandwich was good, the croissant supreme is what made it different from regular ham and cheese sandwich. I think what would made it even better is if they add greens like lettuce and tomato slices to make it more filling. The price was 12.50 which was not cheap for a croissant. It was good but definitely there’s room for improvement.

Nutella & Banana Mini Cream Puff (4.25 CAD)

This a delicious cream puff ❤️ the puff was light and airy with a nice crunch on the top. The Nutella and banana cream filling was smooth, creamy and very light. It was not too sweet and overwhelming which made me appreciate this mini treat. I have to say that this is really a mini treat, one is one enough.

Overall, this is a nice place to get light breakfast or brunch. If you are not a heavy eater, this place will do the job for you. But if you like heavy and more filling brunch, this might not be the place. The brunch items have small serving portion. You can order more pastries to fill you up, that’s on option too.
