Hello Baker! and Food Lovers 🙂 Today I am sharing with you a 3 ingredients quick and easy dessert that you can make anytime of the year. If you are entertaining and need a fast delicious dessert, you can count on this 3 Ingredients Nutella Danish. 3 Ingerdients are all you need. I always keep a box on puff pastry in my freezer for moments like this. When emergency dessert knocks on my door, it is time for me to open my freezer an grab a pack of puss pastry. Puff pastry is probably the best thing ever! I love, love, love it. You can use puff pastry in diffrent ways, it is literally a life saver.
This Nutella Danish is one of myy go to decadent puff pastry dessert. It is super easy to make and yet you are graced with a lovely cripsy layers of pastry filled with chocolate and nice toasted almonds. As it is, it is good but if you want to take it up to a highher level, serve it with vanilla ice cream n top and that there is a knock out dessert.
What are the Ingredients for Nutella Danish?
- Puff Pastry – I prefer to use the store-bought to make the process easier. Store bought puff pastry are already rolled and the thickness is even. But by all means, use a homemade puff pastry if you feel like it.
- Chocolate Spread – I used Nutella just because I have some but any chocolate spread will work as well.
- Nuts – I like using toasted sliced Almonds but peacan or pistachio will work as well
- Egg Wash – a combination of egg plus water for brushing the pastry before baking. This produces a nice browning, but doesn’t really affects the taste. Totally optional
How to Make Nutealla Danish
- Make the Puff Pastry – Just in case you want to make one, make it at least a day ahead so that you do not feel rush. I do however suggest that you use the store-bought for this recipe as it cuts and saves a lot of time.
- Make the Danish – Spread as much (bu not too much) or as little chocolate spread in the center. I find that about 1 tablespoon is more than enough to fill the center. To add some crunch, sprinkle top with sliced Almonds then fold the 2 sides towards the center. Chill the pastry in the freezer at least 15 minutes or however long you need to pre-heat your oven. Puff pastry needs to be cold all the time. Then bake at pre-heated 400F oven.
- Bake – bake at pre-heated 375F oven. It is very important that the oven is already pre-heated before you put the danish. Puff pastry requires high temperature for it to puff-up.
Alternative Filling Options:
If you do not feel like Chocolate, then substitute it with sweeened cream cheese, fresh fruit filling, jam or reduced fruit sauces. I have quite a few selections in my blog, give them a try.

Best Serve the Same Day
Puff Pastry desserts are best serve the day they are made. This gives you a chance to enjoy the flaky crunchy pastry right off the oven. But if you cannot finish it, keep it refrigerated and re-heat at 300F for 15 minutes before serving. It will not be as good as the day it was made, but it will somehow bring the crunch back.
Ingredients:
- 1 Roll Puff Pastry
- 1/3 cup Chocolate Spread (I used Nutella)
- 2 tablespoon Toasted sliced Almonds
Instructions:
- Make the Puff Pastry – If you are making your own, make it in advance to make the process faster and easier. I have a homemade puff pastry recipe, have a look. The store-bought puff pastry is my go to as it is saves a lot of work. Use a rolling pin to stretch the puff pastry to a 10 x 10 size then cut into 4 squares. Work as fast as you can while the puff pastry is still cold.
- Spread Chocolate Filling – Spread chocolate filling in the center, leaving abou 1/2-inch side not covered with chocolate. Sprinkle with toasted sliced Almonds. Fold the 2 sides towards th center
- Chill -Chill the Danish in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before baking.
- Brush the top -Brush top with milk or eggwash (1 beatedn egg _ 1 teaspoon water)
- Bake – Bake at 375F for 30 – 35 minutes or until puff-up.
Makes 4 pieces
