[VIDEO] Unni Pastry @Downtown Vancouver

Unni Pastry is a Japanese inspired bakery located in Robson street in the heart of downtown Vancouver. They are famous for their creamed donut, but they have more than that. They offer sweet and savory bread, pastry, cake and hot or cold beverages.

General Information

Interior

This cafe is quite small. They only have 4 tables inside which is not a lot to accommodate group of people. The interior is simple and basic, but the important thing for me is that it is clean and comfortable despite the small seating area. The tables are kept clean as well as the washroom.

What’s in the Menu

A LOT of delicious bread, cakes and pastry for sure but they are famous for their creamed donut.

The popular Creamed Donut

This creamed donut is the one that most food fanatics rave about It is basically a soft and fluffy donut, cut into a sandwich and filled with cream filling. It looks like this. Their best sellers are the Cream Brûlée and the Strawberry Donut.

Sweet & Savory Bread

They also have selection of sweet and savory bread. They have Ham & Cheese Brioche, Twist Sausage Donut and Croquette Donut just to name a few.

Sweet Brioche

If sweet bread is what you are looking for, these creamed brioche and cinnamon twist looks really delicious.

Cakes

Feeling like a bigger portion to bring home or to gift to a friend? They have 6-inches cakes . The one in display are Mango Tiramisu, Snowman Strawberry Cake & Rudolf Strawberry Cakes. The last two are seasonal as you can tell from the names.

Single Serving Cakes

For my self, I always go for the single serving size. They have 3 variations of Tiramisu, 4 variations of cheese cake. They all look delicious and worth trying.

Cube Bread

Let’s go to this beautiful cube bread. Cube bread has been popping up Instagram post left right and center I’ve tried it first from the pioneer “Wicked Cafe”. Now, you can find several cafe selling this cube bread. They are like a slice bread (but not sliced) and filled with something inside. This one here are filled with cream.

Pound Cake

If you want something more heavier and compact in texture, they have 3 variations of pound cake to choose from. They a a per slice of the Matcha Pound Cake on the day that I visited, see photo under cookies and more below.

Party Tray

Sharing is caring ❤️ If you are feeling generous or perhaps lazy to prepare something for a gathering, they have party tray. A dessert tray and charcuterie tray.

Service

The service was really quick mostly because all the items are ready to serve.

What I Ordered

Espresso Tiramisu

I was craving a Tiramisu Cake that day so that was what I ordered. I did not actually noticed that they have Matcha and Mango Tiramisu, nonetheless, I did not regret ordering the Espresso Tiramisu. The soft was soft and light, the espresso flavor was not overwhelming, and the cream was so fluffy and the cake overall is not too sweet, just perfect! I will definitely try the Mango and Matcha the next time I go back there.

Mango Green Tea Iced Tea

It was actually cold freezing day but I did not feel like a tea. I just had my hot tea before leaving home so I decided to get Mango Iced Tea with the base of Jasmine Green tea. I like that it was unsweetened so I was able to add just the right amount of sweetener. Next time I will order the Strawberry Iced tea 🙂 So many items to try, so little time ..

Over all, this is a cafe that I highly recommend visiting. It was not a fancy elegant looking cafe like the other one I had visited but their products are amazing and that is what matters most to me. If you happen to be in Vancouver Downtown, go check this place out.
