My Experience Visiting New West Quay
2 Train Trips
I took 2 train trips which was about 1 1/2 total (it’s a long trip). Usually, I do my walk in Garry Point Park in Steveston Village or in English Bay in Vancouver which is less than 1 hr trip. Anyway, it was a nice day and I would say it was far but it was worth spending my free time. Let me show you around.

Walking the Promanade
The board walk by the River was quite long. It was clean, quiet, with plenty of seating area and the best part, the flower boxes when in full bloom with flowers. Tulips, more tulips and more flowers. I was extremely pleased with the experience walking this place. I would say the videos I saw in the social media did not do justice to the beauty of this place. Too bad it was too far from my place. It will be too much travelling to go back here quite often. Maybe I’ll consider meeting friends here to have dinner instead.

Let’s Eat!
Now let’s talk about food! If you get hungry, there is a River Market. It is a small dry market with food stalls, shops, restaurants and grocery that you can stop by. I went inside just to have a look but did not buy anything as I have a more sinfully delicious stop after my walk. Want to know what it was. Let me show you.

Cake It Easy! A Filipino Treat
On my way back, I stopped by to have dessert at Cake it Easy Cafe, a cafe that sells Filipino inspired desserts. What does that mean? That means desserts that are Ube or purple yam flavor. We Filipino love purple yam desserts. To be honest, there is no prominent taste in purple yam. What it does is that it gave a nice vivid natural color to the bake products and moisture. Think of it a sweet potato, but this is purple in color.

Ube Flan Cake
Because this was a long trip, I decided to try 2 of their most popular desserts: the Ube Flan (14.50CAD) & Ube Rival (10.50). The purple yam flavored deserts are priced quite expensive, but nonetheless because I don’t go here often, I decided to bite the bullet and bought 2 of them.

I ate the Ube Flan there and took the Ube Rival at home. So my verdict, it was a nice cake. It was not too sweet which was what I really like, the cake layer was soft and light, the flan was smooth and creamy and the Ube mouse was smooth and creamy. The thickness of the layers was great. I enjoyed eating it, was it worth 14.50CAD? Maybe not. I still think it was over priced for a slice of cake but at least it was good.

Ube Rival Cake
Now the Ube Rival that I took home?
It was a long trip than usual but it was worth to spend my free time. I had a nice relax led walk and sinfully delicious cakes to treat myself.

Thank You for stopping by. Until my next adventure! Byeeee ❤️
