Happy New Year to Everyone!
Do you still have the hangover from all the sweet treats that you ate during the holiday? I am definitely in that zone right now. Believe it or not, all I can think of right now is having something to eat that is not sweet for a change. The start of the year is the time when people often start to make a resolution to eat healthy, to avoid sweets, to be vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free. Well I guess that is just about normal after being on “food coma” (as I call it). I personally think (some people might disagree with me, I welcome that) changing eating habits shouldn’t be a “diet” activity, but more of a change in life style. I mean we do not get into a habit overnight, or few days, or few months. It takes time to adjust to it and to make that good habit part of our life. Sometimes it could be frustrating and challenging even for me. It is easy to fall back to our usual habit and after we knew it, we are back to 0. This is way I am so thankful with Meat Free Monday, it really did me a lot of good benefit. It kept me motivated to included healthy option in my meals even if just few days a week. By the way, often times my Meat Free Monday becomes Meat Free Weekdays because I had to finish the dish the entire week by myself especially if I ended up making a lot. It happened from time to time when I am excited and in my “happy” cooking mood (which is often). Let us start the year right, not just for a day, for a week or for a month. Let us try to do Meat Free dish part of our meal any day of the week. It doesn’t have to Monday, If can make it more than once a week, that is even better (kuddos to you). Again, I am not convincing you to be vegetarian here, because in case you don’t know, I am not a vegetarian. I like meat and I enjoy it from time to time and I am happy to let it stay that way. I am not yet ready to give up on my beloved chicken (I am worlds no 1 chicken lover). Also, I am not claiming or trying to get the message across that I am the model of being a healthy eater. Nah, far from it, I guess my blog is a huge evidence to that, and you can tell from all the sweet treats I make. I wouldn’t really call them all that healthy (not at all with all the butter and sugar) but I have a plan for that too. “Health-ish” dessert is coming soon in my blog, watch out for that. I can imagine that would be a fun and challenging activity. As for the “Health-ish” Monday, we can do it. Eat healthy, one step at a time, one day in a week. Here are my Meat Free Monday collection there’s a lot here to choose from, a good place to start the Meat Free Monday Challenge. I hope you will find one or more and join me for more Meat Free Monday series in my blog.
